Default Best DIY brinly earth ripper.

I've got a fair bit of hardish packed clay/soil/rock mix that I'd like to prepare for a garden & grass seeding. I have access to a little 5hp tiller (walk behind), but putting in a 30x40 garden plot has already claimed 1 belt & it's extremely rough going. I'm looking for a DIY earth ripping solution that is cheap and simple. I do have an 80 wire fed welder. I'd like to be able to rip a few inches down for the grass & at least give the tiller a little head start.

Thanks.

You can pick up a chisel point anywhere for about $20 and you'll have to make an adapter.

Traction, weights, depth of point limited by travel of lift???????? you'll need to take all that into consideration.

You didn't metion what tractor you want to attach it to.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
