He told me the same. Actually, he said he preferred I come look at it. But, I'm a little far away to just "drop by".

Still, somebody doesnt own something so unique without learning more about it before putting it up for sale, and while there does appear to be some differant stories around about the first 90.... no where is there any mention of a particular 50 being stamped differant from the rest... I s'pose its possible that he got sucked into buying it with such a claim and is now just hoping to reclaim his loss... but since his story also stated that his grandfather bought it new... that doesnt really wash either... something not right there... I wouldnt go see him with a pocket full of cash, at least not without some good backup.

I bull/sell on kijiji here alot... and never had a problem but since I live in the country Ive noticed a couple buyers have been a bit nervous when they first pull in the yard, one person might get out of the vehicle but another will stay in it at least for a little while...cant blame them... theres alot of scams on sites like kijiji and cl, never know when something can go bad if theres cash money involved.

Its a breath of fresh air and a secure feeling when you can purchase or sell from a forum like this where you can at least trust the other person to be genuinely interested in and knowledgeable on the parts or machines in question. No scams or deception with people you converse with daily at least not without consequences of some sort... Be careful out there guys its wild and crazy world.

If buying or selling in person on/off CL I always try to meet up with the buyer/seller versus at a home.
I always suggest the nearest Sheriff's Office parking lot.
They will either agree or back out real quick.
Eliminates the ones selling stolen goods (well unless they are brave?).
And those up to no good.

Nothing wrong with that.

Guys, I talked to this guy and he's a little confused, but legit. I think he's a nice guy, just has absolutely no idea what he's got. For the record, the price listed was pulled out of his a$$. His gf listed it, and when I talked to him he didn't even know what she had listed it for. I wouldn't pay that much for any cub. Not even a super. Sorry, I just don't think they are worth that kind of money. None of them. Just my opinion. I told him he was at least $2000 too high. He does, however, have the mower deck and a front blade for it too, and I think he said chains for the rear.

Still waiting on pics of this elusive, non documented, "24 of 50" tractor.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
