Default Pulley/belt Questions for 1450….

Are different pulleys required for different sized decks?

I bought a used 1450 over the weekend. The gentleman who sold it to me buys used Cubs, cleans them up and resells them. He said that they all usually they take 78” inch belts. On the one he sold me it took and 80”. The belt is running fine – I cut about an acre with it. The only issue is the first few times I turned off the PTO the belt slipped off the engine pulley. Backing down on the throttle before turning off deck has taken care of this… The deck the tractor came with is I believe a 44C? (I know it is 44 inches but it is at home and I can’t recall if the sticker says “C” or not, or if this matters…) Anyhow, I’m wondering if different pulley sizes were used. The tractor is in very decent condition and I would guess the original owner would have not used an incorrect pulley for replacement on purpose. The other, thought, since the tractor has a sleeve hitch on it, maybe the original owner was using some other implement that required a different pulley? Were there implements that required pulley changes?

Thanks,

-Calvin

Calvin, here you go for the belt info http://home.comcast.net/~dos0711/CCBELTCHART.htm Occ link http://www.onlycubcadets.net/forum/showthread.php?t=17

A tiller and snowblower would require a pulley change to the steel pulley but they should be a direct replacement for the original mule drive pulleys. Not sure if any other attachments would require a pulley change.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
