Just go buy it and stash it inbetween a couple of your other cubs. She will never know what hit her. LOL

Now I'm confused,The op posted a model number of:147-720-100. Sam Mac said that is an 1811 or 1812. R Bedell said "Something is wrong. That model number doesn't match the picture.

NOW....if the model number is a 149-720-100, then it would be a 1872 "
According to the pdf Shrewcub provided;
1812 147-720-100
1872 148-720-100
2072 149-720-100
Darkminion's list:
1812 147-670-100
1872 147-720-100
2072 147-730-100
To further add to the confusion, I went out to the garage and looked at my tractor, which has an 1872 decal on the hood, a sticker on the original owner's manual reading; factory no. 1872 and the original invoice that says 1872. The tag on the tractor reads reads; 149-720-100

There's a typo in some of the 1987 numbers. The 1872 was entered as a 1812. Yours is an '89. They changed some numbers around in '89.

The first 3 numbers indicate the year. The second 3 are essentially the model, but weren't consistent year to year.

Clear as mud now, right?

The "720" is the actual model. I see the 720 referred to as the 1872 more so than the 1811/1812. Therefore, it would be safe to assume, the 720 is a 1872 because we are looking at a SGT in the picture.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
