If my foot looks this bad imagine what my leg looks like.

Man that foot looks like it hurts.

You may need to run the deck up a bit higher

Tires could be part of the problem

I'd replace the 2 pulleys on the mule drive with the larger size used on the Cyclops tractors, they are about 6" so that would drop the belt down at the front about an inch of course you'll also need a slightly longer belt.

I have the stock 26 x 12 x 12 goodyear turfs on back and the stock size up front too. The belt rubs even in the fully lifted postion.

I can't run bigger mule drive pulleys, there is probably .5" clearance between the pulley and the shaft they mount on so I could only get another 1" on the DIA, so a 5" pulley MIGHT fit. I would need to run a 6" to maybe have clearance.

I am assuming my 982 came with the deck with the front wheel kit installed, if it did it should be fine since I had the wheels mounted at the lowest position (highest mowing position) which is about 3" high.......and the belt rubs even fully lifted. I will take some pictures of the deck at full lift, something is really wrong.

I am tired of borrowing my neighbors little JD, I want to see how my deck works since I serviced it.......but I do want to find out and fix the real problem. I wish the parts had PNs on them so I could be sure my deck lifting assembly is the correct one but I might just have to post measurements of it to verify with.

The deck does have belt wear marks though........so at some point in its life it was mounted correctly.

My foot doesn't hurt a bit, that's all the blood draining from my thigh........my leg looks about twice the size of the other.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
