black market tractors have been around a while. they are pretty much cheap knock off copies of various brand name tractors. kind of like buying a Honda clone motor and expecting Honda to supply parts

Grey market machines are machines that were intended for overseas sales only. They ARE different than machines for the US market.

I can only speak regarding grey market kubotas, but the answer to the question is not that they cant sell parts, it is that they dont have access to the overseas model parts book. A lot of the maintinance parts are available for the grey market tractors, but you need to have a motivated parts guy to help you find what the corresponding US model parts numbers are. Grey market is not the same as black market. Black market items are more likely to be counterfeit, or otherwise illegal to sell. Grey market is just not marketed here in the US. US products have to meet specific criteria, like safety interlocks (seat sensor anyone?), ROPS, shielding, particular options are available/not available in the US, etc. Grey market equipment is completely legal to own.

We are a Yanmar construction dealer here in Wisconsin, I would do anything but run from these things. We sell mini excavators and skid steers and we rent them, we've had very good luck with them, the motors are bullet proof, the skid steer is a gehl with a Yanmar motor. I can't speak for the small tractors but there construction equipment is awesome!

yanmar engines can hold their own against any kubota engine. if i had a choice between the two engines itd be a tough decision.

I've worked on as many Yanmars as I have Kubotas. I agree, they are almost identical in design. So are the Mitsubishi's FWIW. Yanmar's are as good of a machine as anything. Deere uses the Yanmar diesel in their small tractors/lawn tractors. Nothing to be scared of here. There are gray market machines with every brand. IH even had machines just for the European markets.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
