I drained my hydro oil, cleaned out the axle housing, installed a new oil filter and refilled the unit. I start up the engine and I try to accel and the forward takes about 1-2" before it starts to move. But when I try to go in reverse, it takes all of the travel to barely move it backwards. The one thing I wanted to try but didn't get to do tonight was, take out the relief valves and switch them to see if the problem follows the valves. But, if it doesn't, I am at a loss as to what it could be. Any idea?

What filter did you use?
It's not the relief valves. |

I read on here that the Napa (WIX) 1410 filter is what I needed.

That is correct.
Lets just get the standard questions out of the way...... Did you make sure the old flter gasket came off of the unit? Did you try jacking it up and running it? Did you try pushing the tractor a little while moving the lever? It's full of oil right? You used some sort of hy-tran or 30wt oil? Not gear oil right? Not uncommon for a hydro not to want to move after an oil change. Usually you can roll it a little while moving the lever and it will go. Also been a common problem with members here that after a flush the residual "gunk" either plugs the filter. Or it has also happened, that a piece of rag used to wipe out the rear got left inside and plugged the filter. |

Yes, its full of Hytran oil I picked up from dealer. I'll run through the steps of jacking up the tractor and moving it while moving the lever. If none of that works, I'll try replacing the filter again, just in case it picked up more junk.....although...I must ask....wouldn't a plugged filter cause that same issue forward as I have in reverse?
