The 3000 series were beast, especially with that locking differential... I don't know why CC discontinued them whenever they offered another +1 over the JD X series.

Whenever I think of new GTs the only two I really consider is the CC and the JD X series (700 series). I know Simplicity and a few others still make a GT, but they are far and few between.

I personally feel that the SCUT market has really hurt the GT market. For the price of a loaded CC or JD you can move into a Kubota BX 1870 or comparable and then it's really night and day difference. Then again you're comparing plastic on the JD vs. metal on the Kubota. I know a few guys running JD scuts without hoods...

I had no plans to leave Cub- my 2166 was my first Cub. She may not be the greatest thing to look at right now- but as of this moment shes running really well. I like the idea of new and not having to do uch for a while- but not for the price.

I've always liked the looks of the 2000, 2500, and 3000 series units from the early to mid 2000's.

Never thought much of older GT's, as usually one would need to put in a fair amount of elbow grease- but not always. The 1863 and 1864 intrigue me a bit.

At this point the 2166 will make it through the season- if I find a deck for short money first- then I guess I keep her.

I don't blame you one bit. Keep using it if it'll do the job and you're happy with it. I just replaced the plate that holds the pedal assembly last night on my 2186. It's the plate that keeps the pedals from falling through the foot rest. These are the types of parts that really grill my brisket. That plate so skinny that I'm surprised that it lasted for 342 hours of mowing time. If it were on one of my IH tractors it would have been a 1/4 inch piece of steel that would rust over 50 years but never break. The 2186 mows very well but the ride is a little more harsh because it's so light compared to my other tractors but it still has things I like about it better than the olds ones. That's one reason why I just keep all of them...
