Default How much can a stock 1450 tow

Does anyone know what the towing weight of a stock 1450? I have a trailer full of wood weighing maybe 1250 pounds. Tailer itself weighs about 350 pounds.

It will pull until it looses traction. Hook it up and see!

Now, if it's a single axle trailer that is going to have tongue weight, you better use a pickup.

It is a single axle trailer. One of those build-it-yourself 4x8 trailers from Harbor Freight.

I put a 2 inch ball on the tractor so I can use it around the yard and fit through my gate.

Be careful it is not what you can get moving but what can you stop...

Just for sh!ts and giggles, I've towed 2 Silverado 1500 pickups tied together bumper to bumper with my 2284 before That being said, John's right: it'll pull till it loses traction, but if you're going to have a lot of tongue weight, it's best to either something bigger or find a way to pull it that's not using the hitch bolted to the trans.

How much tongue weight would be too much? I haven't tried to lift the tongue, I used to jack to get it off my truck.

I wouldn't set more than maybe a few hundred pounds on it. It would be different if it was like a cyclops with the rear plate and drawbar. Who cares if you tear that up. But, you pull the threads out of the rear end...... that sucks. If you can't pick the tongue up, I wouldn't set it on the drawbar.

That's even worse. Now, you have leverage, and you only have 2 bolts in it.... advantage is there are more bolts holding the tiller mount on than the drawbar. I'd take some of the wood off the trailer.

Ha, ok. I guess 2 trips won't hurt.

If only I had a smaller yard trailer... They seem to go quick on CL around here.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
