Help!
I have a cub cadet 1811 (recently purchased USED), and after mowing once I've found the crankcase full of fuel. It stopped running right, and after removing the air filter, and it started but fuel was shooting out the crankcase vent hose to the air filter. What would cause this? A stuck fuel float in the carb? After draining the oil, I think the engine was FULL of gas. Any help you can offer would be greatly appreciated! Thanks |

Sounds like a needle issue in the carb...it probably wouldn't hurt to rebuild the carb completely if you have it apart. Matt G just did a nice write up on it.

You could also have a crack in the diaphragm of the Fuel Pump.

Pick up an adjustable carb to replace that Walbro POS that's on there, rebuild it (including new float), and replace the fuel pump and fuel lines. It'd also be a good idea to add an inline shutoff right before the fuel pump so you can shut off the gas without taking off the side panel. That will prevent this from happening again.

Make sure and put an inline fuel shutoff under the hood so you can turn if off after every use. This will help prevent future problems incase it takes a while to pinpoint the cause. Matt always types faster than me!

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
