Default Anyone here know Massey Harris tractors?

I'm looking at possibly purchasing a Massey Harris pony tractor and was wondering if any of you guys have ever had one. This one has good rear and front rubber, wheel weights, hydraulic lift, mower deck, snow blade and brackets for cultivators. Right now it does not run. Fuel tank needs to be cleaned and a carb rebuild as well. He also said its stuck in gear which leads me to believe it has water in the transmission because last time he tried to move it when it got stuck is during winter. Pushed it to the back of the barn and there it sat till I found it. Its been repainted an all is orange color.

Anyone have any input on these old pony's and what the value on something like this might be?

I don't know anything about the Pony's specifically but a good friend of mine's grandfather has a model 44 Massey Harris. I have spent a LOT of time on that tractor and never had any issues. Really great tractor! Let us know if you end up with it.

If it doesn't run assume the engine is toast, if its stuck in gear assume the trans is broken. If its dirt cheap then go for it but I never buy anything with the sellers word that its runs good and only needs a minor repair to get it going, I'd just hate for you to waste your money.

Especially for an "odd ball" make and model.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
