Interesting. Tonights plow duty was dry. Cold, but dry.
Ran like a top. We may be onto something with this wet causing electrical issues concept.... Makes we want to get the garden hose out and spray it down just to test. Um... nah, still in the teens. |

Is it possible you had carburetor icing?

After you're done plowing next time, squirt the plug wires with soapy water before put it to bed. If it's dark and the wires are bad, it'll look like July 4th.

Well, until I can turn the problem on and off I won't really know. Sure could have had some water in the bowl, or some other place icing. Or could be electrical. Wires, switch, etc.
Or maybe one of those elusive problems which magically goes away and never returns. I did flush the tank and drain the carb bowl, in addition to having the plugs in/out. None of that mattered that particular night. We will see what the next run behaves like, more snow Thursday (have had 58" of snow this week!) Maybe this weekend I can pull it inside and give the carb a good cleaning, but did that not long ago. Thanks for all the good advice, I will work through it all. Slowly, but will get through the suggestions. Some plugs and wires and fuel line and a filter wouldn't be a bad idea. And that ignition switch was misbehaving last fall, so add that to the suspect list. While I am at it might as well do an oil and filter change. Just did the hydro fluid. Sounds like a project for the weekend. I need to look up what plugs and what weight oil to run. Any suggestions on the plug wires? Oh, and gas line size/material type. A trip to Napa at lunch it seems. |

Quick question (making my shopping list):
Is there a particular fuel line material the group would recommend? I have heard the ethanol breaks down certain types. If I read the specs right, its 1/4" ID. I thought I would ask here first. Then ditto on spark plug wires: Any particular type you guru's prefer over the others? (Im not even going to ask about spark plug brand, religion, or politics....)

Something else to consider,
Those head mounted ign modules usually collect junk/clippings and either fail or possibly shorting out because of moisture?? just a thought. I have an after mkt Ign module on my m-18 and it will not produce spark @ low cranking speeds. one of these days I'm gonna pitch it and go genuine kohler! |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
