Just use caution when loading/unloading. Seems like there have been lots of forum members post on here before of ramps breaking, slipping, etc. and bad things happening to their tractors and almost to them. I know that you know better, but we all need a little reminder on safety every now and then and as fellow members, I think we have to look after each other. Have a safe and fun travels with your cub!

My preference would be to not haul a trailer that far (if I can even get the deal made). It would be a lot easier without it, although ramping a Cub up into the bed could get tricky too.
Dad used to run his 1650 up a couple 2x12 ramps into his truck so we could run to town to mow the fire station.....I never liked watching that, they looked like they'd break at any moment. He ended up buying a small snowmobile trailer that was boxed in to haul everything. Was a lot safer. I should know sometime next week. Maybe a new toy next weekend, but Mama's gonna want (at least) one of the existing fleet to go, and I'm not sure I want to cut one of my rides loose yet. So I'm kind of conflicted....

Put a tie down strap on each ramp tied to the truck to keep the ramp from kicking out. Good piece of mind.
I rode my Harley up into my truck yesterday, that took a deep breath...

I made a set of ramps out of 2x8s with 2x4s screwed on edge underneath. I cut tapers on the end that touch the ground that match the slope perfectly. I put screws every 6: down the length of the ramps.
I screwed 4 stringers between the left and right ramps. When I use it I take the tailgate off and rest the ramps on the rear bumper. I use a ratchet strap to hold the ramps to the truck. The ratchet strap goes between the top stringer and the bumper. I store the ramps in my shed to prevent rot. I made this to pick up a basket case 1450 last year. They don't even flex when a tractor is on them. This is a picture I took when I unloaded my 1450: ![]() |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
