Default Why I hate Mice

Thought I'd post a couple pics of the damage done to a Vanguard I'm working on in a LT2180. This one had serious blow by do to a blown head gasket. Blow by was so bad I had to run a hose into a catch can. Reason the head gasket let go is that it was over heated and that was caused by a mouse condo in the cooling fins. For you guys taking your stuff out of storage do your self a favor and look for signs of mice before cooking your engines. Now onto the pics.

Yeah I've pulled apart a few "gems" like that before, none that had been there quite so long as to damage the engine, though. Most were stored tractors that were pulled out long enough to sell so luckily the damage was more cosmetic/external than internal. I think my highest dead mouse count was 6 or 7 I've pulled out of one engine before. I'm not sure if I should be bragging about that or not

I hate those meeses to pieces!!! --Jinxy

They are very pesky. Thanks for the warning Sam. I have several in cold storage so I will probably be dealing with the same since I forgot to set out the moth balls and garlic this year. Judging by some of that buildup on the internals, it may be a blessing in disguise to replace that gasket.

my wood splitter has a k341 on it and it was a family friends. he had it covered up and tucked in very neatly with a tarp and such. when he gave it to me tarp was nearly rotted off tires were shot. got it home finished unbagging it and the mice had been in the fan shroud near the bottom the whole bottom of the shroud was rotted away. also rotted the ring gear till the bottom was gone and the aluminum crankcase cover was almost thru so the oil would come out. luckily i had a blown 14 hp for parts

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
