Default 1440 hours?

I'm looking at another 1440. Is 1400 hours high for it? Do you think it has some life left in it?

Tough call on this one. I guess it depends on how it was used and maintained.

I have a couple of 1440's. One has about 1200 hours and the other around 1400. Both of them run/sound like sewing machines but I have no idea how much is left there. Neither one of them smoke or knock.

If the tractor is still nice, I probably would worry much about the hours if the price was right.

Probably not. The 1440 should have a 1" shaft and the M18 should have an 1-1/8" shaft.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
