My first vehicle was an '81 C10 with Armstrong steering. Also had manual brakes and a 3 on the tree. Oh the good ol days.

149, 1864, 782.

The 149 is a workhorse. 14 HP Kohler, hydraulic lift, nice tractors. Grew up on a 129 Dad bought new in 1974 and still has. My first cub was a 149. Just as nice as the 129, but the hydraulic lift sealed the deal.

Of course I like Supers with diesels, and diesels in general. So that would be my choice now.............

No supers or diesels, my 3 would be 100, 149, and 1641. That being said, I have not got enough experience with all models.

782, 1650 and my 149.
The 782 because it's such a quiet smooth powerful enough tractor, and looks cool in red.
The dual stick 1650 after I got ALL the bugs out of it. Just a feeling of a tank and plenty of power, and the front hydraulics make using the blade so much more enjoyable.
The 149 because it's enjoyable to operate, and again looks so darn good. Except the motion lever is on the wrong side

I have not used all of the different models, especially anything past 1980, so I would say, based on my limited experience:

782: All around great tractor with ease of controls, handling and power.

169: Plenty of HP, simplicity of controls, nice availability of extra parts except for a few "specialty" ones (that might make the 149 a bit more desireable) and easy to work on. Only disadvantage I can think of for the 169 are the balance gears, but those can be removed.

123: Power, ease of control, simplicity of the machine and no plastic or fiberglass (except for the original seat, to become brittle over time or break up) and steering wheel cap.

125, 125, and 125. I suppose the 72 should be in there too.

For a legitimate reason, those early hydros have metal fans which generally still have their blades. Plus I prefer internal brakes over the external disc.

I have the 125 and I just got the 124. I love 'em. So it hard to say cause I haven't tried them all... but I seem to prefer the ones with the K-series Kohlers. Simple motor yet strong and stout.
