Default Mixing oil?
What's the advice on mixing oil brands? Straight 30 WT, conventional oil, but two different quarts unopened, going into a Kohler 14 HP?

Personally I wouldn't mix them if it were mine.

while its not ideal to mix them its probably alot better than running old dirty oil.

Years ago the shop owner had us drain all oil cans, bottles and funnels into a clean drum, we used this to change oil in the wrecker. We called it multi-multi weight. Wrecker ran fine, never had an engine failure.

Agreed. The odds are good they came from the same barrel, per my understanding. Brand names don't mean a whole lot.

Just did it on my 125 this past weekend. Three different less than full bottles. I'll let you know at the end of summer.

I wouldn't just because I don't know enough. 30wt is 30wt but who knows if different brands add different additives. J-mech, care to comment?

I personally always add a dash of Archoil to my oils for added protection, only because I have seen it fix numerous sticktion issues on HEUI engines.
