I disagree, you never mix brands of oil!!
It will ruin the muffler rear bearing and cause cross interference of the sinusoidal annular sphincter valve. ![]() |

Lol George! Not to mention what it does to the flux capacitors!

I foresee two possibilities. One, mixing different brands of oils of the same weight causes your engine to be lubricated and you are happy. Or two, the encounter could create a oil paradox, the results of which could cause a chain reaction that would unravel the very fabric of the space time continuum, and destroy the entire universe! Granted, that's a worse case scenario. The destruction might in fact be very localized, limited to merely our own galaxy.

Not really. There is a debate waiting to happen here, mainly with people who read a lot. I've found the best kind of oil to use is oil that is present and changed regularly.
I will say, that I've mixed brands more than once in mine and customers stuff, but I try not to make a habit of it. Mainly because it bothers my OCD. I've never had any failures resulting from it. Quote:

From everything I've read, mixing oil brands should pose no problems. This is mainly due to the fact that most major brands of motor oil get their additives from the same few additive companies. Now I did run across some information about mixed brands/additives having some negative effects on cold oil pumping properties, but since most of us run a Cub Cadet/Kohler with a splash lube engine, I personally wouldn't see this as a concern.
Have I mixed brands before? Yes, and I have no worries. (I've mixed viscosities also.) Have I mixed them for my Cub Cadet 129? No, the required capacity is so little, I always have enough on hand for an oil change. Oh, and flux capacitors are only used in time travel.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
