I'm having problems with the PTO on my 169. The PO had the turnbuckle adjusted too loose causing the PTO to always be on. I ordered a new button and spring washer for it from my local Cub dealer from part numbers that I got online at Cub Cadet. When I went to replace the parts I found that it looks different then what I have. When I adjusted the turnbuckle and aligned the three cogs with the pully the clutch would work normal for a few times and then they would fall out of alignment and would cause the motor to stall out. My old spring washer in front of the retaining ring was worn and kind of flat so I replaced it with the new and I now works normal. My questions are: Is this the proper button and does the brake need replaced because the hole is wallered out? Thanks.

I got a lever of off an early wide frame with out the brake and replaced the button with the early model. I took the parts off a 108 for my 129, dont know if the 169 is the same or not?
You could also weld the lever with the brake shut drill and tap it 7/16" and flatten the head of a 7/16" carrige bolt on the lathe, then drill the center of the bolt to accept the wear button and it give you a bit of adjustment to take up the slack where the brake parts used to be. |

You can always check the current parts listing at.....Parts Lookup. Just type in your Model Number and go to the appropriate section.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
