I have to rewire the headlights on my 2084 and am clueless on what gauge wire to use. I have some 18 gauge from a heavy duty drag cord that seems to have good flexibility and a decent covering. My present wires covering has become brittle and even broken in several places. I have to wire up my new headlights that came with my new nose piece and grill as they are sealed beams instead of the plug in bulbs that are original. It seems to be a good time to rewire.

As long as you are only doing your lights 18 will be fine. If you look at a car most of the wires in them are 18 or smaller most times.

I assume you have 35W sealed beams, that is around 5 amps. You are perfectly safe with 18 ga. (although I prefer to wire heavy) I am not sure what a drag cord is, I have never heard of that term. If you have a concern over a long life for the wire, check what the temp rating is on the wire, or wrap the wire with some sleeving to shield it.

Haha, I even googled it before I responded. If it is a GOOD extension cord it should be pretty flexible, and even have the temp rating of the wire on it. That said, I cant remember seeing a GOOD extension cord that was 18 ga, but I hate to by smaller than a 12 ga (it never fails, I need a heavier cord than a 14 ga)

Ha Ha drag cord is what we have always called it. Yes it was part of an extension cord. I wired up the lights this afternoon and must say so myself I copied what I cut off the original headlight setup. I did find that the original wires were heated so many times over the years that the rubber coating was brittle for about a foot down from the headlights so I spliced the new wires at that point and proceeded to further splice into those wires for the other headlight. Hooked up the wires and had lights. Oh and we call an extension light a drag light too.

I second that I never heard that term before. I'm 60 miles north of Pittsburgh.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
