Default 1541 won't turn over

A friend cut with it for 25 minutes. Shut it off. Now the thing is dead. Even the display won't light up. I jumped the solinoid and it will start but the electric clutch won't work. The key switch will turn off the engine. Thanks for your help. John.

Check for a blown fuse right beside the PTO relay.

Did replace the fuse. Now all that lights up is low oil. It's not low. I disconnected the battery and now I can jump it at the solinoid and the electric PtO works. I cut grass so still not sure what the problem is? Also no other lights on the panel light up.

You disconnected the battery and now the PTO works? Did I read that correctly? But with the battery hooked up, it doesn't? If that is correct, have the battery checked, they can short circuit.

These tractors have multiple safety switch interlocks. All switches and connections may be suspect.

I agree with most of the above posts but want to add, the battery could be SO dead that the charging system spends all of the electricity that it makes trying to charge the battery and there is not enough left for the pto to run on.

Or (less likely) the charging system doesn't work and there isn't enough power in the battery to start the engine or run the pto but there is enough to keep the engine running.

The best insurance for keeping your Cub running good is to NOT let your friends borrow it. They will break your toys and then swear they don't know what happened, leaving you with the repair bill.

Default Thanks for your help

I'm thinking the key switch too. When I run it the seat switch will still kill it. Started it like 15 times in the past two days so I'm thinking the charging system still works. Gonna try for a switch tomorrow.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
