There was a different type of pull start offered on the bigger motors. It was on the front and not the rear. Lew has one on a 71 IIRC. I'll see if I can dig out some pics... Or Lew could post them (I'm pretty sure it was Lew.)

It was Lew.... but it was/is a 72. He took the pics down.

Here is the thread. There is another member with some pics... but his machine is messed up cause someone added a starter.

A 71 would have the pull start on the blower housing side though correct?

Edit- oh yeah I just saw the thread. That is a cool setup, the recoil that is

No, because it's shaft drive. The only tractors with a pull start on the blower housing was an "O" because the recoil had a pulley behind it. The 71 was on the front.

I'm trying to find it in a parts book pic, or brochure or something..... give me a few more min.

Here's a pic from the parts book for a 71. I don't know if they offered it with any other motor than the K161 though. (It's in the pic for the K161 engine.) I don't see any reason it wouldn't bolt onto any K series block.... just might be hard to pull on a 16 hp.

The muffler on the bigger motors would be in the way of the pull starter on the pto end.
