How long is this line? It's currently in 2 pieces now? Why not cut shrink tube to the length of the hose (just the hose, not the ends), install the hose, install the shrink tube on the hose and shrink it in place. It will add almost no thickness to the hose, it will cover end to end and not look funny, and it won't leak. You could even smear some sillycone on the ends of the tube before you shrink it down to assure it won't leak after install.

I'm gonna try this one more time......

In these pics, I used an arrow to point at the rubber fitting. THIS IS REMOVABLE. Simply take it off, and attach a vacuum HOSE that is available at all part stores. YOU DO NOT have to find and hunt up this "special plastic tubing" that you keep seeking out. There is a hose barb under those rubber ends and I swear to God that vacuum line hose will fit it.

The line was shredded for a few feet. I have two foot-long sections for a 4.5 foot length needed. But it's a good suggestion.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
