Default The Other OCC

This weekend, my car club had our yearly 4 day show, yesterday Paul Sr. from Orange County Choppers showed up with some other staff from his shop. Apparently they are starting a new show soon called American Made I think. John Schneider from "Dukes of Hazzard was there as well as Candy Clark from American Graffiti.

I'm no big fan of Teutul but if he came back with a show about American made stuff from the old days... you know the old school way of making things and quality stuff we use to purchase in the old days, count me in to listen to that show But if it's just another motorcycle drama queen show, I pass...

Old skull, in our days, we made most things as it was not available like today.
My first custom car mods were gas welded and Lead was used as filler, "bondo" wasn't invented.
We didn't know lead was bad and the smell of lacquer thinner meant another modification of the hot rod.
Air was dirty, Sex was clean and "gay" meant a happy event.
Everyone who wanted a job had one or was in the service.

Oh my yes!
Air hoses blew off the brakes/clutch housings.
At the factory, we has asbestos gaskets on every sintering oven as well as heat treat ones.
all the aluminum melting furnaces and zinc furnaces and diecasting machines had asbestos insulation, who knew? we sure as hell didn't till years later.
We would grind them off with air powered disc sanders and replace them. had asbestos fire blankets in the event of a fire. We used them in winter to keep warm when it really got cold.
it wasn't till later years they told us it was bad and took all asbestos out of the factory, or contained it.
Several guys developed mesothelioma and or lung cancer.
hell my schools had asbestos covered pipes on the water heat system and it was in bad shape but we didn't know it was bad for us.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
