Good idea on the lamp wicks! I've read through this thread twice, and love seeing it highlighted anytime I check in here. I always hope new posts contain pics, whenever I click on "last page". Very nice work. I'm wondering if there isn't something the lamp wicks could be coated with. Something to give them a little bit of a no slip quality, and protection against environmental degradation. My first thought was paraffin wax. But... I figured that might get too warm, and run. Maybe I'm over thinking this. I definitely plan on using this idea, even if it is just plain lamp wick, on my new to me 104. Keep up the good work!

Sure, now you tell me about these. I'll check into it, would look much better. Thanks for the link Tim.

Thanks Lew. Sometimes things aren't always as they seem Something wrong that wasn't right...
I'm sure glad I was able to rework the straps without damaging them, sometimes I get lucky

Appreciate it Jay, thanks. But having the master (Lew) on speed dial helps a great deal. You want it correct, you must listen to the master...

Thanks Conner, appreciate the comments. When I installed the wicks I put a dab of super glue on the bracket to hold the wick till I got tank on. I don't think there'll be a issue with them breaking down, if so they'd be easy enough to replace.

.
It wasn't until I saw your tag that I remembered seeing reproduction tags somewhere, I even saved the link for myself because for the price I think my tractors going to get a new tag.

Todd,
Your awesome build of this "O" is getting a lot of attention, which it should!
That picture of the starter switch and throttle under the dash really shows how much time and effort you have put in on this tractor. Hey those painted reflector brackets look real good too!
Engine in place
controls connected.
gas tank in position.
carb looks great
I think you must be just about ready to kick the tires and lite the fire?
BTW the wiring looks super clean!
Regards,
Chris

Thanks guys
Worked on it some today, but ran into a bump in the road...
Went to fit the air filter assembly and noticed the carburetor doesn't fit the two hole upper portion of the air cleaned. Check out the pictures. The carb has and extra hole at the top that would be exposed.
See when I picked up this tractor it had a dry element air filter installed, but I had an original off of another tractor that I want to use. Any ideas?
Also got the throttle cable on, and grill. Hey Lew, I got the reflectors straitened out.

Looks like you have the wrong carb....
Should look like this one, notice there are not any threads on the top hole and the choke lever has a little thingy on it.

Well ain't that wonderful?
So I have two options I guess. Find another/different carb or go with the dry element type...

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
