PTO or drive clutch? The drive clutch seems fine, I've yet to test the PTO .

What engine is in that, a Kohler? Looks a bit underpowered, tell me its a 14 or 16 HP. Nice looking machine you have there if it is all original.

It's a Kohler 10hp magnum, I think it will mow fine with the 44" deck.

1050 has a 10hp Kohler Magnum. (K series with a magneto)

The 1050 was wired for headlights.... just didn't come standard with them.

I honestly don't remember this model back when they were new. Dealer dad worked for may not have stocked it. Basically is it a later version of a 582, with a smaller Kohler single cylinder? Was this built the same time as the 1810? The dealer dad worked for inventoried a pretty big jump in machine sizes. He had the small lawn tractors up to around 13hp. Then he jumped up to garden tractors with 17+hp engines. Also stayed away from the diesels. How rare/odd is this model?

Yea its basically a 582 with a single cylinder Kohler, I hear there rare but I've never heard an exact production number.

Just for clarification this has a good 3 speed rearend not the crappy peerless rearend.

It's basically the 1000 replacement. No model like it in the '82 series. It does have an aluminum rear. They were only built in 1985. Not many produced. I can't find any production numbers.... even in my super secret file.... but they didn't make many. My guess is around 4 or 5000. The 1806 was its big brother, also a rare model. I'd like to find one of those.....

There's 1 more 1050 and 3 1806 where I picked this up at, I was gonna go for the 1806 but none of them have good engines that don't smoke.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
