Mods please move this thread to the "restoration tips" section, so those of us with 123's can see them in their original (unmolested) condition.

Looks like some farmer got that with the purchase of his combine and did not have any use for it in the last 48 years! I know a guy with a deck in the original box for the 123, but he will not part with it, too bad because it would look great with that 123.

Do you have a story to go with this machine? It is an absurdly low hour machine. Somebody buy it new, strike oil in the back 40 and then hired someone to mow the lawn?

All I know is that the owner used it only for snow plow duty in the winter until he could not do it due to age,in 2000 it was put in storage till I bought it,so it is possible that it was used,30 or 40 times in its life.

That's a very nice time capsule. Is this one better than your "keeper" 123 Lew?

Thats cool about the lights and the air filter, don't be surprised if the lights blow out because I have had some like that and after sitting unused for so long they eventually heat up and blow out I guess, keeper? Looks good.

Wow, Lew! That's my kind of original condition! Love it! Give it the TLC it deserves. I hope there's a spot for it in your collection. I miss my 123 a lot (but I know exactly where it is!)...

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
