Default what have we here? ID this IH Cub Cadet

spotted on my drive home from the grocery store the other day, had to turn around and have a look. Wondering what model it is. Any thoughts on what something like this is worth in this shape? I know it's been outside in the same spot for about a year at least. There was no one around so I don't know if it runs or not, I'm leaning towards not. Thanks for looking.

it is a cub cadet original(61-63). it is worth what you want to pay for it. for me, maybe $150-200 if it ran. the oil bath air cleaner is worth $50.

thanks for the input. I don't think I am interested in buying it, just thought it was worth checking out. I'd like to have it but I doubt I could afford to restore it with original parts and would be too tempted to modify it. It looks relatively unmolested but I don't know these tractors that well. I am looking for something I can repower if need be and not feel guilty about it.

This had what appeared to be the original set of keys in the ignition, some collector or restorer would love this thing. If anyone wants the guys number I saved it to my phone, just PM me. I can also go look it over better for someone if need be, it's just a few miles up the road at a farm.

And I've seen that hood ornament go for anywhere from $20 to $50.

I knew someone would ask that! I'll swing in there next time I'm out that way, I drive by there all the time.

The more I look at the original the more I want it. I saw a couple really nicely restored in the "post pics of your cub" thread while browsing the forum last night.

Thing is I already have a deposit on a couple 1450s, one whole one for parts. The whole one is ready to cut, need TLC, which is what I am looking for.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
