Welp the 18 is about done. Got a different head for the number one side of the engine after we found out the push rod on the exhaust valve was bent and blew the seat out of the exhaust valve. Only to find out when we got the different head the female thread that hold the rocker arm were stripped. After talking to Jmech, we ended up helicoiling the threads. Re torqued everything assembled all the pieces, replaced necessary gaskets, push rods obviously, and now have a what seems to be good running CH18S.
Had to do a little work to the plastic that I purchased, but it is pretty decent overall. Keith ended up doing a little different fix to the headlights but turned out to be a very good repair for the broken stubs that hold the headlights on. Got the hydraulic outlets put on and just ordered the 3 point lift rod from xtreme today. Other than waxing and trying to put a shine on the plastic, a decal kit is about all that's left short of a seat cover. Otherwise is a functioning operational 1864 again! Tonight Keith and I moved the 54 inch deck to the shop. He even started tearing it apart, so hopefully we can get it put back together before the grass starts growing :-)

Getting lucky on the deck, the spindles were frozen up so I was a little concerned, but after removal and a good cleaning they are perfect just packed solid with old dry oil, just need to put new seals in. A little work on the spindles and some new wheels, and she will be.good to go. Not a bad deck.

It's an awsome stand. Still have a little work to do on it. I have a control panel made so i can twst run engines on it and Rescue11 is going to put a 3pt attachment on it so i can move it from place to place alone. Another nice thing is it's sealed under the.engine so I can drain oil in it and drain it out theough the bottom. It's just a great design. |

A white fuel tank? That's interesting, my 1862 has a black one. Must've switched suppliers.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
