Talking Lombardini 10hp diesel in a 147?

Okay I know some people will not like the idea, but I have plenty of Kubotas to do big stuff with. I just want to put a recoil start diesel in it. I am not worried about cutting the frame and getting it to fit and bolt up. I can handle that.
Any recommendations or thoughts about this? I tried a 6.5hp gas and it had to much resistance on the output shaft to get started. The tranny in my 147 works perfectly. Nothing wrong with it.

A pull start hydro sounds like a huge pita, if you could put a disconnect on the driveshaft so you could start it without turning the trans it might not be to bad.

some of the cub cadet diesels came with a disconnect clutch. was on the back of the driveshaft im guessing acted like a centrifugal clutch so you werent turning the trans while starting the engine

Some of the hydro quietlines had disconnect clutches too. I saw a video of a Massey garden tractor with a one cylinder lombardini diesel in it. Was a ballsy little tractor! I was recoil start. The guy was at a plow day with it. He did about get ran over and the end by a red cub though! Lol

Yes, could be. I thought about doing that to one. That way it would be ready if you wanted to put a gear trans in it. I think it would be better than the disconnect clutch some came with. Mike

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
