John

Im no expert... nor have I done the super steer conversion before.. but I THINK there may be two different super steer axles... one had a higher ride height than the other... but I don't know this for sure.. somebody that knows please feel free to correct me.. Or the diff in ride height could be in the spindles?

It has been documented before on this site.. but I just can't remember the exact details.

I think when they started offering the deeper CCC designed decks they went to diff spindles or a diff axle to give more frame height.

Anybody have links to the super steer threads?

Thanks I'll have to do some research I don't want to have issues with blades or blowers. I know the decks can be adjusted and work with no issues.

I also ordered a gear reduction starter today.

John,
maybe I can help, maybe not,
I'm thinking your frame is like a 782????
One of my 782's has a front end from a 2072 super tractor and it raises the front end about 2" and sets it fwd. about the same amount.
What I encountered on a QA42 thrower, was the L.front tire rubbed the
thrower guard over the drive assy on the thrower a bit, but only on a full right turn.
I took care of that with a little bending of the guard, also I had to extend the lift rod some to allow the thrower to drop down the additional 2".
I have not put a deck on it as of yet.

On my 1650, I hung a super steer under it from a smaller Gt,-seems like it was a 1400 something.
On that cub the tie rod/relay from one spindle to the other will hit on the top of the mule drive, with the deck up and the axle pivots like going over a bump with one wheel.
I was able to "adjust" the spindle brackets, where the tie rods attach, upward by bending them upwards some.
They still touch a little, but it causes no problem.
As far as easier steering,I can't say as I have power steering on both.
Hope this helps.

I used a IH-61176-C92 on my 1772 and seems to be running without any problems. There are some on ePay if you look around under that number.

Installed the gear reduction starter makes starting this think 100% better.
Installed the new bearing in the fan bracket no more screaming from those.
Fixed the cat 0 3 point hitch one of the Ferrule was worn almost to the hole so i added material with the welder.
Went and picked up a used pump for the transmission.

Now time for some set back the driveshaft is bent and the front coupler on the driveshaft is shot.
Ordered a new coupler from Jeff
New driveshaft from cub with next day air shipping.
New Cooling fan for the trans
And a rear end gasket now i just have to find hytan local.

Genuine Hytran at my local Case IH ag dealer seems to be cheaper than anywhere else... even cheaper than some of the knock off stuff..

The Cub Cadet hydraulic transmission fluid is extremely expensive at the cub dealer!

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
