Default Carb Question
Does, or did some company make a cone shape screen that inserted to take the place of the main carb jet ?

You can't take a main jet out and replace it with a screen...

Why?

Apparently you can and have it work so so
That's what I found on my Briggs opposed Vanguard for a main jet. I think its a hose screen for a 3/8 hose

I'll second that. Sounds kind of like working on a carb that is so screwed up you can completely remove or close and air jet and the engine still tries to run. Wonder what the last guy was trying to do? I pulled a thermostat out of a combine once only to find a piece of sheet metal rigged to prevent the thermostat from completely closing.

Thats what I think happened they took out the jet (there is a plug you take out so you can remove the main jet without pulling the carb and they cross threaded it so inserted a hose filter ) guess I,ll pull it to see if I can repair , it runs a bit rich but has power gas mileage not bad either.
