I found a 2182 and 2084 super cub for sale. Both are pretty decent priced with some goodies. The 2084 comes with rear pto, and three point hitch. The 2182 comes with a snowblower, and mower deck. I don't know much about these model. What are some thing to look at if/when I go look at either one of them? what are some common problem with them? What would be a decent price for either one of them? Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

FFCub, get'em both.
![]() The 2084 was built in 1993 to 1994 and should have a Kohler Command CH20 in it. The 2182 was built from 1990 to 1995. It was the best gas engine power Cub Cadet ever built with a 3 cylinder water cooler Kubota WG600 engine. Both are SGT's and pretty much the same machine with different engines. As with all Cyclops they have paint, wiring and plastic issues. Check the rear bolts and make sure nothing is broken, loose or has been repaired back there. They were probably some of the best machines built and if you can do your own minor repairs then either one would be nice to own. The cat 0 hitch and rear pto are prolly worth $800 to $1000 if complete and working. Some people think that the shaft sticking out the rear of the hydro is the rear pto but it is not. This is what it will look like. This one is missing the guard but you should see a female coupler sticking out of the rear hitch plate. DSCN0809.jpg

I just got of the phone with the guy that has the 2182. He is the second owner of the tractor. The tractor has around 900hrs on it. The transmission is leaking fluid. He said the ignition switch is sticking but he has order another one. Are these any major issue? Is that a lot of hours for that engine? He lives two hour from me. He is asking $900. It comes with a snowblower, wheel weights, and a mower deck. Is this something to go take a look at?

That's about $1000 less than any super normally goes for, so it's a good deal. Is that price with the attachments you listed? If so, you would be crazy not to jump on that deal.
Is 900 hours a lot? NO. It's not a lot for any engine. That's low hours. |

I own a 2084 and it has over 1400 hrs on it and still going well. One of the biggest problems with these machines is loose, broken or missing bolts in the rear end. Loose or missing bolts are a very easy fix. Broken bolts are a bit more work. If you get either or both and plan on keeping them I highly recommend two things be done. 1 get a front bumper. That plastic nose piece is about $140 to replace. The other is a pair of rear braces that Sam Mac designed. Again not real cheap but gives the rear end much needed support. These supers are real work horses. The 2084 has a unique shut down feature you have to follow or the result is blown head gaskets. To shut down a command engine you must first advance the throttle to 1/2 speed or higher and shut it off. Not doing it that way results in the engine back firing and resulting in a blown head gasket.

I don't think I would wait until next Friday. Unless he is a really good guy and takes the ad down, for $900 it will be gone.... likely before Monday evening.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
