Default I added another one to the stable. help on diesel!!

Hello-
I have a 782 gas. a 782D and now today i bought an 882 Diesel. she has 1400 hours, nice little tractor has some very nice things on it, very straight.

This baby starts awesome. zero vibration. PTO is flawless. 50'' deck.

So i started mowing. ran about 30 minutes and she all of a sudden fell on her face and died. it restarted right up and i went another 5 minutes and again it died.

i changed the first filter fron the tank. wetn back to mowing, 15 minutes later dies again and restarts instantly.

so i came in and changed the fuel pump from my 782D. same thing.

it starts instantly.

whats my issue or any help?

Change the other fuel filter, remove the tank, empty it, take out the shutoff valve, and clean all the junk out of the screen on there and any gel crap in the tank. It would be a good idea to replace all of the fuel lines while you're in there. Don't forget the a lubricity/anti-gel additive to the fresh diesel.

I would also check the vent on the fuel cap, make sure it is not vapor locking.

i have a JD 1530 diesel i use to mow with and year before last it was starting fine then running poorly, thought it would die right there in the yard. i put in fresh fuel and some tyranny fluid in with it, diesel mechanic told me with the low sulfur fuel they have now days would help lube up the injector pump.

after that it ran worse then before so i changed the fuel filter which on a JD is a large glass cube looking thing, re primed the system and has been running great ever since.

start from square one and have a good clean fuel system, all new filters. after that then it can get more pricey looking at injectors and such, but if it was running good to begin with for a half hour or so i think the filters will cure your problems.

Nice!

Love the 882s, and I wish I could find an OEM muffler like that.

I did the math to get one from the Cub parts dealers and it was approaching $600.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
