Why weren't you able to set high and low idle?
Did you adjust the carburetor? Correct ignition timing? May have just gotten cheap paint too. |

At first I just relied on the governor arm setting, and putting the throttle cable back to where it was originally. The carburetor is a Walbro and has an adjustable main jet and idle, started with initial adjustments of turns and then went by the book adjustsments to get closer, and can see the rpm vary on the tach, and can hear it get rougher. my hearing is good, but there is slight difference between 3400, 3500, 3600. Paint was CNH muffler black B17690N.
The one problem it is having is a surge when it gets warm, every 30-45 seconds seems to get a little rough, then smooth out?

timing yes, I timed it according to your technical write-up Jmech, thank you for that. with a voltmeter instead of timing light,worked good. I used the points that came in the kit from the manufacturer. Then I check timing with a timing light when its running. the -S is pretty much in the center of the circle.
But, I had some time today to adjust the throttle a bit and set it to 3750 rpm, but that sounds fast, especially if since it's never run that fast. Low idle is set at 1200 to 1400. Also, seems there is a bit of vibration that was never in the steering wheel before. maybe because the engine bolts were loose and now they are tight? by not being able to set it, what I mean was not actually knowing how fast it is turning.
