Default 1440 fuse blows when attempting to start
On my 1440, fuse blows when key switch is turned to start position. If I jump the fuse holder, turn ignition switch to 'on', jump the starter, the engine starts and runs fine. Lights work, clutch works, fuse jumper wire does not get hot.

Any help/thoughts with this problem would be greatly appreciated.

First, welcome to OCC...........

From the limited information you have supplied, this is what I see from looking at the diagram.

It sounds like one of two conditions are existing creating a "short". (A) You have a defective component (ie: Ignition Switch, PTO Switch, or Brake Pedal Switch) or, (B) there is a wire shorting out to ground in the "start circuit".

Do you have a DVM or VOM meter and know how to use it...???

Thanks for the welcome. The PTO works fine and the brake pedal switch works too because I have to depress or lock the brake to start the engine. I'm beginning to think it's the ignition switch. I have a DVM but I'm not sure where to begin testing. Are there any wiring diagrams available?
