Hey everyone.
I'm currently looking at putting a newer mower deck under my 100 that is capable (read: originally designed) to side discharge, attach to a rear bagger or mulch. I all ready have a 42" older traingle deck that I use for both my yard & my field at the moment, but I would really like to use the tractor to cut & mulch the grass in the yard instead of my push mower because its SOOO much easier and saves a lot of time. Is there a newer model Cub Cadet deck that is in the 38" to 46" width range that is pretty good for at least the bagging & mulching operations? I understand there might be some fabrication involved to put the deck under my tractor, which is fine by me. Doing this also creates a good excuse for some more seat time. Unfortunately, I'm fairly well surrounded by the enemy, so anytime I can use the Cub I take advantage of the opportunity. My neighbor has one of those Home Depot "green" tractors which works really well with the mulching & bagging operations. As a last resort, I could use the same deck he has as it would do the job but that would mean I'd be putting green tractor parts on my Cub which isn't a very comforting thought.

You could also modify your deck to something like this one. It is owned by Charlie Proctor of MN. IIRC Charlie custom fabricated the Deck End Bracket, used a standard bagger outfit from a new tractor, and mounted it.

CCC made a 46" high-vacuum deck and bagger, but you'd need a newer tractor. There is NO WAY it would fit under a 100. It's a very tall deck.

Thanks guys. I really like the custom bagger idea. Now, given that idea, I had seen on here in another thread about putting some sort of metal band under the deck that kind-of enclosed the blades? No idea what is was offically called, but would something like that make my 42" deck work better for the bagger/mulching?

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
