Hello from Michigan. I am the proud owner of a 2284 going on 3 days now lol. I got my first riding mower a couple years ago as I moved into a new place with a couple acres of yard and decent sized driveway. It is a run of the mill big box type. Figured I could put a snowblower attachment on it to handle the driveway in the winter. It worked, but was not ideal by any means. Wanting to upgrade for snow removal I did more research and ran across this site awhile back decided a larger Cub Cadet garden tractor would be great. Saved up. Found one on craigslist. Done deal.
I don't have any good pictures yet, accept the one below. Lots to learn. My first task is to remove the snowblower, take off the cab, do some poking around, and then put it back together before winter.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
