Default Question on Briggs and Stratton engine for Broyhill sprayer

Hi,

Purchased this Broyhill sprayer to use behind my 1968 IH Cub Cadet 105. Not sure of its past history, and I have tried to find information on it everywhere with no luck. Has anyone seen this kind before? I don't even know a model number or a basic year.

What it does have is a 3 HP Briggs and Stratton. I set out to change the oil and spark plug today, but I put the oil in the wrong spot. You will notice on one of the pictures the part where the oil comes out; however, I put the oil in the tube that has the square top to it — and then noticed the oil filler on the other side of the engine. I am really hoping both of those places go to the same spot.

Please let me know if you are familiar with this sprayer, and if I put oil where it was not supposed to go. If I did, what can I do to rectify it? It appeared that they went to the same thing, but I'm unsure.

Thanks,
Brian

Oil goes in the crankcase, and there is only one. You put it in the right spot, they both dump into the crankcase.

I think it's funny you listed the year of your tractor. Year is irrelevant.

Thanks for that. And I just like the fact that I can say that I use a 48-year-old tractor around the house.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
