Default New from Michigan

Hi all. So I just came into a 2182 from about 1994. Not sure how to tell what year it is. It's a 141-742-100 21hp super garden tractor, sn 000817549. We bought a vacation house and I had the guy throw the tractor in. Starts and runs good except for the little click, click, click when starting every so often. It has a 60in deck and a 48" front plow. It has a rear pto and I think it's called a 3 point hitch. It has these two arms that stick out the back and I think they move up and down, though I haven't played with it much. The guy has some spare belts hanging in the garage and 3 old bearings which I'm guessing were from the deck. It does leak hydraulic fluid and it's coming from somewhere below the filter, but not the plug or the fitting near there. I can't for the life of me figure out where it's coming from, but from some pictures I think it might be from where the hydraulic pump meets the rear end. Maybe some winter I'll pull the rear end and fix it. I really don't have much lawn to mow and it's too much mower for me. It's like driving a tank on the lawn! The turn radius stinks on it! I have some trees that have about a 5' diameter base and it takes a 4 point turn to get around the thing! I spend as much time in reverse as in forward! It doesn't have very consistent speed either. Going up or down a hill or turning changes the speed a lot, so I'm constantly changing the speed, but I've never had a mower with hydraulics before so I don't know if that's normal or what needs to be fixed. If I was smart I should just sell it and get a riding mower! I'm not up there in winter so I don't need the plow, and the lot is only about a half acre.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
