Default Help with 149 Push Blade

I tried to install the blade on my 149 today and I can't figure it out.

I think the PO added something to it. Looking at the installation instructions, I think he added something to the piece that goes on the QA latch. There is an extra link, and when I put it on the QA latch, it barely lifts off the ground.

Also, he gave me 2 front frame pieces, any idea why? It doesn't seem I can use the other frame on the blade setup I have now.

Anyone have pics of their blade, off the tractor?

How long is the pull rod? Mine seems short, but then again I don't think I'm installing it right.

Finally, does the sub frame go on the inside or outside of the frame on the footrest bar?

the plow you have pictured is for a narrow frame tractor and you have a wide frame tractor, i'm not saying if wont fit but you will have to do a pretty good amount of modification.

The blade is for a 70-100-71-102-122-123.

The extra part looks to be for a Simplicity tractor.

DOH!!

I guess that's why I couldn't get it to work....

Not sure I want to bother modifying to make it fit. And to think, that's the only reason I even found the 149... I was looking for a blade for my 1200.

Thanks for the quick replies.

It looks pretty close to the one in the manual I have.

All you need to do is replace the subframe to get it to fit either your 149 or 1200. Others may be interested in your narrow frame subframe. Everything else about the blade is interchangeable.

I sometimes make my own lift rods from 1/2 inch steel rod, bending it with a torch. there were various lengths, IIRC, not sure what exact length the 149 used. Somebody here has previously posted the various lengths and which tractors they fit.

Thanks! Looking at the manual, it looks like there are a couple bends, and the front QA part is a little bit different. Hopefully I can find a subframe cheap enough. I don't want to spend more on a subframe than I did the whole tractor lol.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
