Default Are these machines any good?

Hey guys, ended up with this for some work I did for a buddy wondering if anyone has any info on them?

i know there are almost as many attachments for these as there is for our cubs. I had one years ago that had standard trans and in high gear if your foot slipped of clutch it would do wheelies! I figured that out the hard way when i first got it I almost flipped it on my self.

Don't know if its any good but it is so rare around here I've never seen anything like it. What is it, Bolens? Around here everything is yellow or green--and 1 shade of each I might add. A few Sears show up now and then.

I don't think it's a Bolens. Kind of looks like an older Sears or a Montgomery Wards tractor. I am not very well versed on them. Nice looking machine anyways.

I've had several of the sears suburban tractors, though I've never had a hydro-track like that. They are tough tractors, i still have a few with a bunch of implements. That one has a sunstrand hydro like the cubs, so it should be a nice machine.

I've never seen a Sears of that vintage with a Hydro transmission... The gear drive version of those is tough as nails!

I would suspect the Hydro is pretty good also!

The 3 point hitch and implements that fit those are second to none... in my opinion they work much better than the sleeve type hitches

Dad figured out years ago how to mount a Sears 3 point on all of his Cub Cadets... I bet he has 15 different implements!

Nice tractor... i'd keep it in the barn even though it isn't a Cub!!

Thanks guys. It is sears. Havent messed with it other than new drive belt. The guy I got it from put new drive belt on and deck belt drove about 40 yards and it threw the belt. I got it home and figured out the cast pulley on engine was loose. Tightened the set screw with no issues!! He has another with gear drive i had to drill and heat the pulley to remove so I could get into the govenor gear inside engine. Already found a front plow.
Had it posted on CL for 600 obo and a collector called to let me know its been painted if it wasnt he woulda given me 6 for it. Think I am going to keep it around for a mower and back up plow. I was wondering if I can tap into that rear for hydro lift? Gonna swap the loaded and chained turfs from my old 105 on it and try the ags with custom chains on the 124. Have to get new seals for the hydro pump. Any one have the napa part number for seals for NF hydro lift?

Looks good John. I like the look of that Sears. Contact member Yosemite Sam for a NF hydro pump seal kit.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
