782 with KT17: while plowing this week I noticed when pushing a pile of snow uphill the engine speed would drop more than normal. Definitely was working it hard, but I dont remember the drop in speed being this much, it usually has all the power needed to spin wheels and then some.
Anything I should check? (dont know if I have a 'problem' or not...) For example, wasnt sure how I would know if the governor was working or not. I could check compression? Timing? |

How long has it been since you tuned it up? Changed the head gaskets? Have you had the governor linkage off lately?
Unless it's running away with itself, the governor is working. May need to adjust it though. Takes about 5 min to do. |

Dumb question but any chance you were low on fuel and the combination of the incline was why? Not to be a smart a. But it has happened, been on some service calls just for that

Am going to give it a going over as Jon suggests. Will look at the forecast and if we are done with snow here in NE, will pull the heads and take a look. Definitely it has seen some work so will throw a little TLC into it and see. |

Simple problem: choke cable had slipped and was running with the choke partly closed. Running it in the middle of a storm I didnt pick up on it.
Running good again. |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
