Thanks guys, I appreciate all the kind words. The D was my first Cub. As I said, I'm addicted. There are four more around here that are waiting for attention!

Looks incredible doc. My vote is to start on the 147 or 149 next. Time to go old school!
Btw I had a roommate in college from Horseheads. Another guy I hung with was from Campbell. Always passed the Polly O cheese factory on the way to Alfred. Good times.

I just went through this thread looking for what you did for the lower radiator hose. Did you go with the 7/8 hose from McMaster that I seen mentioned?

No, I ended up finding a NOS lower hose. I have seen a Cub with the 7/8 " hose being used and it works fine. You just need to route it a little differently to protect it from chaffing. If I hadn't found the lower hose, I would have used the 7/8" without any concern.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
