I can see where using car exhaust would be questionable, but the CO2 is actually a safety procedure used in shops. Car exhaust actually has oxygen in it, in the form of water, especially later models with reduced CO emissions. They actually use a CO2 tank to fill the gas tank in shops. It is heavier than air and displaces all oxygen in the tank (and it's not poisonous). Still gives me the willies. Had a gas tank on an old Willys CJ3 that needed repair. That's why I looked into how it is done. Ended up just buying a replacement gas tank instead. Water would be safe, but it absorbs heat so well that it might be hard to solder or weld on the tank.
I guess it doesn't displace [I]ALL[I] oxygen, since CO2 is one Carbon and two Oxygen molecules combined, but the oxygen is bound to the Carbon, so it does not combust. |

Found it at last! Everything here at Only Cub Cadets can be found. I know there is no problem of mine that someone else has not all ready had. Sounds like I may have done a good job, but have yet to see. Now someone was saying that when filled up with water, that the nipple area steamed up and no solder would stick. I just let my tank air out a good 4-5 days and no problem....I just have been useing the White lt 14.

Sorry about that! That's called having fingers to big for the keyboard. I never noticed misspelling in Title when I proof read before posting. I corrected the Title for future lookups. Rich

johncub7172,
Thanks. This is helpful. It looks like the threaded nipple on my 125's tank might be the pressed on variety. Does this mean that the leak is likely a crack in the nipple and not the connection of the nipple to the "trank". I guess I have to clean it real well and look for cracks.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
