Suggestions wanted....
I would appreciate any ideas you folks may have on the topic of improved tilling experience.
I have numerous aches and pains that only increase for a few days after plowing and tilling. I won't bore you with the list. I used my 72 with single moldboard plow to turn the ground then my Troybilt Horse to make it nice. I would like a dedicated plow/tiller tractor setup. I would like one that would offer no manual lifting. The manual lift on my 72 gets a little wearing on me, even with the spring assist. I was thinking a hydraulic lift for a plow and maybe a hydraulic powered tiller but I'm not sure what tractor I would need to hook it to. Any ideas would be appreciated. I still want to put out a garden but I'm looking for it to be a little easier. Plus with a more capable and less manual setup I can make a larger garden. I also have a John Deere 4100 with 3 point hitch Yanmar 3 cyl Engine: 20 hp 540 rear PTO (claimed): 16 hp hydro Thanks.

What they said or put a wanted ad on here for hydraulic lift setup and a tiller for your 72. They seem pricey these days for what it is, about $400-500 for the lift but would probably be way less money that setting up the greeny or you could find a cadet tractor/tiller complete set up. You live in A very heavily populated cub area

Don't mess around with the Cub stuff. Go get a good tiller for the JD. I picked up this King Kutter from TSC about 14 years ago for $1100 new. I beat the living hell out of it tilling my 50,000 to 60,000 sf front and back yard that had a bunch of Georgia clay in it. I used it every year in the garden since then and this how well it does.
DSC04109.jpg DSC04107.jpg I've never had a problem with it and it sits outside 24/365. The only issue with them is they are heavy but I think you can get a Cat 1 fast hitch. The old Troy-built horse doesn't get used as much as it use to.

What they said, again. Get a tiller for the greeny tractor.
I've got a 55" Rhino tiller behind the Bota, and it's been beat to death as well, but still works great. They are a little bit of a PITA to put on, but I've done harder things.

Thank you all.
The tiller for the Deere seems to be the wise choice. 4 wheel drive, power steering, hydraulic everything. I agree. It's at my son's house about 10 mins away but it's no problem getting here once or twice a year to hook a nice tiller to. Thanks all.
