I had to pull my super out of retirement the other day. I haven't really used it for a couple of years now. I have been mowing with a zero turn and kinda got spoiled. Anyway my zeroturn has engine problems now. Anyway back to the 2072, I charged the battery and I'm back to mowing grass but the deck bearings are like screaming. I have greased them but it's not helping i guess they went dry from sitting. Any tips on replacing them or better bearings?

You sure it's not the belts?

I thought it might be the belts and or the guards rubbing the pulleys but it's the bearings.

I'd put more grease in them. The possibility that they all 3 failed at once due to non use is extremely unlikely. |

I have used the bearings Sam mentions. They work great. Just remember to address the dust covers.

I've got 2 Habans, never rebuilt spindles in either. One of them is a lot noisier than the other. It probably needs new bearings, but has been running "loud" for a couple seasons, no slop in any of the spindles so I'm going to keep running it a while longer.

All 3 of them will spin by hand. The discharge side is making all the noise. This is the old style haban model 374.

Did you check the tensioner pulley bearings ( I am assuming it has one). On my 44a (completely different I know), the un-greasable tensioner pulley started roaring and it made the deck so loud I thought I was going to have to replace spindle bearings.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
