Default What was that sound?

While mowing with my newest member of the family, it just quite running. No extra noises or smoke or anything! Nothing. I checked my fuel. Nope that was full. I checked my oil, it was a little low, but not horrible. I did notice when I pulled out the dipstick for the oil that a puff of smoke came out. so OK, vapor locked I figured. I let it sit a couple of minutes and added some oil. I cranked it over and it turned just a little and CRACK/BANG. At that sound, it froze up. Now, I have had this before where a piston ring must have gotten stuck due to being too hot. So I turned the motr over by hand. It was rather very difficult. So now I had my second OH NO! Once turned to a free spin, I backed it up till I could feel the piston up or so I thought and tried to turn it over again. It started to turn then CRACK/BANG. AND IT FROZE UP AGAIN! At this point I noticed the oil spill under the motor. The third OH NO!! It is a Kohler command 12.5 mill on a 1315. has run absolutly beautiful until this. So what do yal think I did to it? I think I know, but I am no expert on tractor mills. so I want you guys to confirm my thought. Thanks. Jody

I was thinking that my self. I hope to be able to rebuild it some time. But no time or money right now. I just hope I can find something on the cheap side to throw in there for now! Hopefully that wiring harness comes in quick this week for my 805! That reminds me, I gotta get a MO out!

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
