Default Coincidence ??
Thought I seized the engine of my 1882 after changing the oil seal.

However, NO-ONE I asked thought that was the case.

So I unhooked it from the trans____ (sorry I don't know the exact terminology) The coupler on the fan side of the engine. Still not able to turn the crank one iota.

So I took the starter off .... BINGO.... I can now turn the engine over.

Do you suggest I just replace the starter and move on, or did the starter go bad because of the "seizing" issue in the first place?

These questions are from the; I AM NOT A MECHANIC AND SHOULD NOT PLAY ONE IN THE DRIVEWAY. Please keep that in mind when attempting to help - that is....keep it simple/stupid for me.

As an aside (or maybe not) I developed a MASSIVE tranny leak. I've not pulled the dipstick, but judging from the amount of fluid lost it must be low in the system.
