Some progress on the 1782 but no photo's
Steering this tractor was fun you could watch the front axle beam wonder fore-aft while driving. Correcting this with the steering wheel was exciting. Thought I had one of those self driving tractors. Seems like there are two different wheels on the front. Same size but offset is different. Only thing I can come up with is one may be a plain 734-3085 and the other is a 734-3085A? One sits closer to the spindle than the other; and one has a grease fitting. Funny thing was the one without the fitting had a plastic cap on the hub; which was packed full of grease. The brackets for the fore-aft bolts were broken off and re-welded on with a grape welder however not at a right angle to the frame. Best I could do here was grind the axle flat and get a couple of longer bolts; Then make sure they had grease on the axle. The center bolt grease fitting was never used; but the drag link grease fitting was over used. Reamed out the center bolt hole in the axle and installed some bronze bushings that fit the center bolt. Greased the snot out of it and wow it steers by the steering wheel not by itself. Still have more to do on the steering as it needs two tie rod ends and two heim joints for the power steering cylinder. Question is the tie rod ends sit high on the spindles. Would heim ends work on the spindle end as they do on the drag link? Joe |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
